SURVEYING AND GEOINFORMATICS

The Department of Land Surveying has existed since 1981 in the polytechnic. Based on the communique from NBTE and stake holders meeting of May, 2002 the Department applied for a change of Department’s name and programme to the Polytechnic Academic Board in February, 2003. The name of the Department was changed to reflect the modern trend, but the change in programme was approved by NBTE for ND on 1st October, 2006 and HND on 1st October, 2013.

Addmission Requirement

National Diploma Requirement (ND)

Five credit in O level not more than two sitting (WAEC, NECO & NABTEB) English language Mathematics, Physic and any of the following subject Chemistry, Biology, Economic, Civil Education, Geography, Agriculture Plus UTME in English, mathematics, Physic and any science subject

Higher National Diploma Requirement (HND)

Five credit in O level not more than two sitting (WAEC, NECO & NABTEB) English language Mathematics, Physic and any of the following subject Chemistry, Biology, Economic, Civil Education, Geography, Agriculture etc Plus Lower credit and above with one year post experience

SURV. MOSES LEGBO KOLO

Head of Department

He attended Patishabakolo Primary School and obtained primary school leaving certificate in 1983. He gains admission to Government College Bida, and later went to Government Science College Kutigi where he obtained senior school leaving certificate in 1989 and 1991 respectively. He then proceeded to Federal Polytechnic Bida for His National Diploma in 1995 and Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna for his Higher National Diploma in the year 2000. From there, he proceeded to Federal School of Surveying, where he obtained Professional Diploma in 2005. He then went to University of Ilorin where he obtained Masters in Geographic information System (MGIS) in 2018. Surv. Moses has his industrial training scheme (one year ITF) at Ministry of Land and Surveying Headquarters Minna between 1994-1995. He joined the services of the institution on the 27th Dec, 1995 as Assistant Technician. In 2001, he was converted to Technologist 11 and raised to Chief Technologist. In 2019 he was converted to the rank of principal lecturer, and today he is a chief lecturer in the department. He has served in various committees within and outside the polytechnic. He has about twenty publications in reputable journals to his credit. Surv. Moses is a registered surveyor, member Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS) and married with children to the glory of God.
