The Department of Computer Engineering, federal polytechnic, Bida was established on October, 2019 after it passes through resource and facilities inspection from NBTE in October, 2019 and was to award a certificate in National Diploma (ND) programme in Computer Engineering. The Department faced full accreditation exercise this year between 1st to 5th August 2022. The approval for full accreditation of the Department of Computer Engineering was on Friday 2nd September, 2022. The program will lead to the award of Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer Engineering later on. VISION The Department of Computer Engineering is structured with enviable excellent academic standard, training students to be become technologically skilled, morally sound and entrepreneurial of Centre of excellence in Computer Engineering. MISSION The Department of Computer Engineering will build capacity and develop “Human capital to high level through pragmatic and dynamic training, research and developmental services of high standards in the field of Computer Engineering that will meet the demands of the society and will stand the test of time and space. THE GOALS OF THE DEPARTMENT i. To Serve the Federal Polytechnic Bida community and the nation through education, research, and service to meet the mission of Federal Polytechnic Bida and the school of engineering technology. ii. To Provide NBTE accredited undergraduate programs in Computer Engineering. iii. To be recognized by academic and industrial colleagues as delivering excellent undergraduate programs which provide students with a strong foundation in the contemporary and traditional areas of Computer Engineering. iv. To encourage staff members to maintain professional expertise through continued professional development so they can sustain excellence in teaching, advising and be competitive in research. v. To provide excellent learning opportunities in lectures and modern laboratory facilities. vi. To provide graduate research opportunities which, coupled with undergraduate excellence, prepare students through advanced studies in current and emerging fields of state, national, and international importance. vii. To encourage research activities and staff development as well as adequate practical/industrial exposure for her students. THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME The National Diploma in Computer Engineering Technology programme’s objectives are that on completion of the course of instructions, graduates should be able to: • Carry out routine maintenance and repair of computers; • Design and map-out the layout for computers; • Install, set-up and operate computers; • Prepare simple Bill of quantities and specifications for computers; and • Select and use appropriate instruments to carry out simple tests and measurements on all sub-systems in a computer and its peripherals. • Engage in further education programs • Pursue a professional career based on an education in the fundamentals of Computer Engineering. • Provide a positive impact to the engineering community and to the community at large.

Addmission Requirement

National Diploma Requirement (ND)

Entry requirements for the National Diploma in Computer Engineering Technology programme include at least a minimum score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), five credit passes at not more than two sittings in West African Senior School Certificate of Education (WASSCE), Senior School Certificate of Education (SSCE), National Technical Certificate (NTC), General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary level, West African Examination Certificate (WAEC) or National Examination Council (NECO) in relevant subjects. The relevant subjects are: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and one other subject from: Metal Work, Wood Work, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics, Basic Electricity, Economics, Commerce, Statistics, Further Mathematics, Computer Studies, Geography and Biology or Agricultural Science.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Higher National Diploma Requirement (HND)
