The TVET centre comprise of 2 unit, each headed by a coordinator A) The Nigerian skills Qualification framework (NSQF). B) Vocational Program.
 
Nigerian Skills Qualification framework formally National Vocational Framework (NVQF) is a system for the development, classification and recognition of skills, knowledge and competencies acquired in individual, irrespective of where and how the training or skill was acquired. The system gives a clear statement of what the learner must know or be able to do whether the learning took place in a classroom, on-the-job, or less formally.
 
The framework indicates the comparability of different qualifications and how one can progress on the job from one level to another. The framework is the structure within which the National Skills Qualifications (NSQs) operate. On completion of the program the learner will be awarded the NSQF certificate which will enable him or her to work as a skill worker in any industry, be it in Nigeria or outside the country. The Framework is aim at – Promoting lifelong learning – Providing quality assurance and recognition Benefits of Nigerian Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) – For candidates- gain an up to date National Recognized Qualification, which will prove confidence in their ability to carry out the job role they operate at a particular level. Advancement within a company or assistance with a career change along with the feeling of personal achievement. – On completion of the program, the skills learnt and benefits gained by the individual will assist in their job role performance and understanding, which will translate into a more productive and efficient work force bringing numerous other benefits. B) Vocational program- This is a short duration program ranging between 4 – 6 months, depending on how fast the learner can learn, the program will be of immense benefits to the youths in Bida environment and the state. The youth can be trained and empower in their chosen vocational skills. The skills can be government sponsored or self-sponsored.

Engr. Dr. James Baba Mokwa

Head of Directorate/Unit
Engr. Dr J.B Mokwa hails from Mokwa LGA in Niger State. After obtaining is first leaving certificate, he enrolled at the Government Technical College Eyagi, Bida, where he graduated in 1988, he later went to Federal Polytechnic, Bida and Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin respectively. Engr. Dr. J.B Mokwa had his M.Engr and Phd in production engineering from Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State. He is a registered Engineer with COREN. He is presently a Chief lecturer with the department of Mechanical Engineering Federal Polytechnic Bida and the current Director of TVET program in the same institution. He has several international and national publication to his credit and have also attended several conferences.
