Electrical Engineering is one of the Departments in the Federal Polytechnic, Bida. It is being headed by a Head of Department and has a number of Teaching Staff (Lecturers and Instructors), Technologists, Technicians, Laboratoro attendants and Assistants, and Secretariat Staff. There are students at National Diploma 1 & 2 levels, Higher National Diploma 1 & 2 levels, Evening classes and Weekend classes.

Electrical Engineering is a field of Engineering which involves the generation and distribution of electricity and the design of related devices such as electric generators, motors, transformers and other power systems including electricity grids. It produces Engineers who are involved in traditional, nuclear and renewable energy solutions.

Addmission Requirement

National Diploma Requirement (ND)

Five credits Lev passes in the West Africa School Certificate (WASC), General Certificate of Education (GCE), Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC), National Examination Council (NECO), TCII or National Technical Certificate (NTC) ordinary level in not more than two sittings. The subjects must include: English language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry and one other subject from: Biology/Agricultural Science, Further Mathematics, Economics/Commerce, Statistics, Technical Drawing, Auto-Mechanics, Metal Work and other relevant subject.

Higher National Diploma Requirement (HND)

  1. A relevant National Diploma (ND) with a minimum of Lower Credit pass in Electrical Engineering.
  2. A minimum of one year Post National Diploma cognate work experience.
  3. A Pass at ND with two years industrial experience.
  4. Must have basic requirements for admission into National Diploma Programme.

Engr. Titiloye Stephen Oyediran

Head of Department

Engr. Titiloye Stephen Oyediran, born on 24th October,1967. I started my Primary Education in 1973 and finished my Secondary School in 1984. I proceeded to University of Ilorin, Kwara State in 1984 and finished in 1989. After the compulsory NYSC in 1990, I started working as Education Officer in Oro Grammar School, Oro, Kwara State until I joined the services of Federal Polytechnic, Bida in 1994 as Lecturer III. I proceeded to Universiti Technologi, Malaysia in 2014 and bagged my Masters Degree in 2016. I rose through the ranks and file and became Chief Lecturer in January 2023. I got married to Yetunde Titiloye (Nee Alabi) in 1997 and our marriage is blessed with children.
