CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

The Department of Tourism Management Technology evolved from the Department of Hospitality Management in the 2019/2020 academic session with about 25 students enrolled in ND 1. With the pioneer Head of Department, Mr. Kingsley Ononogbo and five other academic staff, the Department started operation and produced it’s first set of ND graduates during the 2021/2022 academic year, after receiving full accreditation in 2022.

This course enables you to work both in the public and/or private sectors. Graduates of Tourism Management Technology are equipped to work in the academia, government parastaltals and agencies as well as in Tourism attractions and establishments. Skills obtained are very useful for operating travel agencies, tour companies, running a profitable zoo, museum, amusement parks, waterfalls and other leisure and recreational facilities among others.
 
 
 

Addmission Requirement

National Diploma Requirement (ND)

At least five (5) credit passes in:
1. English language
2. Mathematics
And any two subjects from: Economics/Commerce, history, marketing, civic education, government, accounting, Tourism studies And any two subjects from: Agric science, biology, chemistry, physics and food and nutrition.

ONONOGBO KINGSLEY UGOCHUKWU

Head of Department
ONONOGBO KINGSLEY UGOCHUKWU attended the Irete Community School, Owerri West, Imo State, and obtained the first school leaving certificate in 1986. He thereafter proceeded to the Irete Secondary Technical School for secondary school certificate in 1992. Mr Kingsley also proceeded to the Imo State University, Owerri for his Bachelors Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, and graduated with second class honours (upper division) in 2000. In 2014, he further obtained Masters of Science (MSc.) Degree in Tourism and Recreation Planning from the prestigious Ahmadu Bell o University, Zaria. Mr. Kingsley is currently at the terminal stage of his Ph.D. program. He joined the service of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida as Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Hospitality Management, and currently the pioneer Head, Department of Tourism Management Technology. Mr. Kingsley has risen through the ranks to become a Chief Lecturer. He was also a former Examinations Officer, and successfully managed the first accreditation of the Department of Tourism Management Technology. Mr Kingsley was a former member of Staff Welfare Committee of the Federal Polytechnic Bida. He has published several academic articles and presented academic conferences both nationally and internationally. He is a member of the Hospitality and Tourism Management Association of Nigeria (HATMAN).
